Argo Fine Arts

Drawing on decades of international experience, a discerning eye, and a storied artistic lineage, Samantha McCoy founded Argo Fine Arts in 2026 — a gallery with roots in New York and Paris. The gallery champions artists and cultivates meaningful connections with collectors and institutions through curated exhibitions worldwide. Argo debuted at Art Paris in April 2026, held at the Grand Palais, presenting work by Christiane Löhr alongside pieces by Richard Learoyd, Charles Pollock, Jackson Pollock, and Cy Twombly.

A native New Yorker, Samantha was raised within a storied artistic lineage, counting Jackson and Charles Pollock among her great-uncles. This lifelong immersion has shaped her career as a gallerist, advisor, and curator. As Global Director of Magnum Gallery from 2020 to 2025, she drove the institution's international expansion, overseeing its global exhibition program, art fair presence, and the 2021 opening of its Paris gallery space. Her tenure included high-stakes acquisitions — most notably the Robert Capa collection — that led to major museum exhibitions at Les Franciscaines and the Musée de la Libération. Earlier, she served as Gallery Manager at Jason McCoy Gallery in New York, where she specialized in 20th-century American and European masters.

Beyond her gallery work, Samantha is a widely recognized voice in the field. She has been profiled by Artnet News and the Financial Times, curated and juried for PhotoEspaña and the Musée du Quai Branly, advised major international collections, and contributed to numerous catalogues and publications.

The name Argo draws inspiration from the legendary vessel on which Jason and his companions embarked in pursuit of the Golden Fleece in Greek mythology. It resonates personally: Samantha’s father, Jason, directed his eponymous gallery in New York for over four decades. The name further evokes Argus Panoptes, the all-seeing, many-eyed giant of Greek myth.

The letters of the mark are taken from Charles Pollock’s 1949 calligraphy.
